The movie transports the Precure into a world inside a picture book, where they are guided by Nico, a mysterious inhabitant of the picture book world.

A mysterious monster named Miden has appeared, stealing away the Precures' memories and reverting them to the state of a small child. The HUGtto! Precure team joins forces with the Futari wa Precure team to retrieve the stolen memories and powers of every other Precure team so far!

The story begins when the protagonist Hikaru meets aliens Lala, Prunce, and Fuwa while watching the night sky. She learns of the "Star Palace," where the 12 Star Princesses of the constellations kept the balance of the universe until they were attacked. Lala is searching for the legendary Precure warriors to help find the 12 scattered "Princess Star Color Pens" and revive the princesses. When Fuwa is captured by an enemy, Hikaru wishes to save Fuwa, and a Star Color Pendent and a Star Color Pen appear to allow her to transform into Cure Star. From then on she works to collect the pens and raise Fuwa, who is the key to reviving the princesses.

Mirai and friends go to the Magical World to celebrate the Wishing Stone Festival, a once a century gathering where the titular stone grants one lucky customer's wish. When Mirai and Mofurun are seperated by a mysterious bear wizard, Mofurun's wish is granted and hijinks ensue.

During the summer festival five years ago, two girls met at a mysterious tree and saw two glowing spheres. Now, these two girls--Saki Hyuuga, ace pitcher on the school softball team; and Mai Mishou, who prefers sketching over stargazing--are chosen by the spirits of flowers (Flappy) and birds (Choppy) to restore the Seven Fountains and save their worlds from Dark Autumn. A mysterious creature named UMA (Unidentified Mysterious Animal) appears in Lala's gummy case and then uses a power to whisk the Pretty Cures to a faraway place. Though they can't communicate with words, song seems to work just fine. UMA is so precious to the universe, but alien hunters are after UMA! The whole universe is in danger if they catch UMA. UMA must be protected and the hunters defeated!
